The present book seeks, in the author’s words, “to provide an introduction to number theory and algebra, with an emphasis on algorithms and applications,... that would be accessible to typical students in computer science or mathematics who have some amount of general mathematical experience, but without presuming too much specific mathematical knowledge."
Consequently the book is intended as a textbook for an undergraduate course (but incorporating some more advanced topics), it tries to be self-contained, with chapters alternating between “theory" and “applications" and with many examples and exercises included through the text. At the end of some chapters there are notes and references to the Bibliography. (Zentralblatt)
