This book, written in collaboration with Jie Wu, is a valuable, highly welcomed addendum to Tenenbaum's monograph. The exercises, at least in part rather difficult, embody many interesting results from number theory. Their aim is to introduce [graduate] students into research in analytic number theory. In the reviewer's opinion, graduate students will acquire important technical tools and a large variety of methods from analytic number theory, they will become more skillful, and they will draw large profits in thoroughly working through these demanding exercises.
