This book, because of its clear organization and detailed proofs, is very readable and well suited to independent study. Because of its selection of material and the examples offered, it is highly recommended for beginning mathematicians as well as for beginning engineers. Unfortunately, it contains many (mostly minor) orthographical and typographical errors. (MathSciNet)
