The first two chapters contain preliminaries (from universal algebra and lattice theory) and general results about the lattice of all lattice subvarieties. The more detailed study of lattice varieties splits into the studies of modular and nonmodular lattice varieties, dealt with in the third and fourth chapter. The fifth chapter is devoted to varieties with finite equational bases, and the last chapter is concerned with amalgamation. At the end of the book there is an extensive bibliography (of more than 120 items). (Zentralblatt)
