This book has been written by famous mathematicians. It presents the mathematical foundations of systems and control theory in a self-contained, comprehensive, detailed and mathematically rigorous way. The first volume is devoted to the state space analysis of dynamical systems with special emphasis on problems with uncertainty. It combines features of a detailed introductory textbook with that of a reference source.
The book consists in the following 5 chapers: 1. Mathematical Models. 2. Introduction to State Space Theory. 3. Stability Theory. 4. Perturbation Theory. 5. Uncertain Systems. The first chapter of this volume is of an illustrative and motivational character. It presents a catalog of dynamic models from six areas of applications. The development of mathematical systems theory starts in Chapter 2 with an introduction to the state space description of dynamical systems. This introduction is followed by three substantial chapters on stability theory, perturbation theory and the analysis of uncertain systems. A lot of new examples, explanations and figures were added, making this book accessible and well readable for engineers as well as mathematicians.
This book is one of the best books on the subject. (Zentralblatt)
