Completely integrable Hamiltonian systems have enjoyed great attention as they connect several areas of mathematics: mechanics, symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry, to name only three which appear in this book. The book is addressed to graduate students without previous exposure to these topics, in fact it contains two appendices with the essentials of differential Galois theory and Riemann surface theory that one needs in order to follow the author. The genesis of the book is three introductory graduate courses given at various institutions (for that reason, one would assume, one of the three précis given on the frontispiece is in Portuguese) ...
