The largest chapter is on the Boltzmann equation near the equilibrium (1/3 of the whole book). The reason for that is the large number of mathematical results for this model. In addition this theory has existed for a sufficiently long time to be free of the unnecessary technical machinery of first proofs, which makes it suitable for book presentation. The exposition goes along a traditional line established in papers of Ukai, and the author skillfully points out essential difficulties (cf.
