The beautiful texts by Raghunathan, Margulis, Zimmer and by Platonov \& Rapinchuk have been standard references for several years. But, since the theory developed in each of these books has several aspects and, a typical reader is well-versed in only a few of these aspects, reading them may prove a daunting task ...Here are a few remarks ...
