This book contains an elementary introduction to the theory of p-adic numbers and their analysis. The author presents the construction of the g-adic ring and the p-adic field and deals with the arithmetic of g-adic and in particular p-adic numbers. ... The author compares the similarities and differences in the properties of functions of a p-adic variable with those of a real variable. The theory is illustrated by many examples and there are sections with problems. The author also mentions some open problems. The book is an excellent introduction to p-adic theory. (MathSciNet)
