This book consists of two parts: the first gives a modern treatment of the so-called Bertini theorems, while the second contains some recent results on projective modules. Both parts are basically self-contained for one who is familiar with the language of schemes. Even this is not necessary for the second part, except that at one point the Bertini theorems of the first part are used. It is this use that ties the two parts of the book together. (MathSciNet)
