The basic guiding idea throughout the book is the analogy between the sets of first category in a topological space (which are "small'' from the topological point of view) and the negligible sets in a measure space (which are "small'' in the sense of measure). This is an idea that goes back to the theorem of Sierpiński (1934), improved by Erdős in 1943. ... The book is self-contained and very clearly written. It contains a great deal of information, and is a useful and interesting tool for anyone studying measure theory and real functions on the real line. (MathSciNet)
